Children are eligible for the sacrament of Confession when they are in the second grade providing they have a baptismal certificate on file in the Faith Formation office and are receiving instruction through St. Genevieve Elementary School, St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Parish Faith Formation or are being instructed at home with the guidance of the Faith Formation office. First Confession is usually in February.
Parents remain the primary catechists of their children and are expected to participate in the sacramental preparation by reinforcing the catechism, attending required meetings and practices, and being committed to their child’s regular attendance at weekly Mass and catechism class.
