Our 35th annual Catholic Services Appeal takes place during the Year of Mercy, when Pope Francis has asked us to be mindful of the gifts of our risen Lord’s love and mercy.
It is significant that the many ministries, programs, and services our CSA funds serve as the practical means of delivery of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. Specifically, our CSA provides the tools our priests, deacons, religious men and women, and laity need, as partners in my ministry, to carry out those works of mercy throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit.
The CSA gives us all the opportunity to support the good works of the Archdiocese and thereby to put into action the Good news Jesus preached. Truly, this is evangelization at work! It is fitting, therefore, that we adopt Celebrate the Joy of the Gospel – from our Holy Father’s Apostolic Exhortation – as this year’s theme for the Catholic Services Appeal.
“The joy of the Gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus, “Pope Francis tells us. (Evangelii Gaudium, 1).
It is both a challenge and a joy when, because of the CSA, we share our faith in Jesus with our brothers and sisters throughout the Archdiocese, and serve them as Christ did during his public ministry.

As you prayerfully consider your pledge to the 2016 CSA, please take a moment to read about the good works the CSA supports right here in our local Church. I am sure you will be inspired to once again make the most generous gift possible. Entrusting you to the care of St. Anne, patroness of the Archdiocese of Detroit, I remain.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Allen H. Vigneron
Archbishop of Detroit

ELECTRONIC GIVING
Electronic giving helps the Archdiocese of Detroit answer our Holy Father’s call in Laudato Si to care for “our common home.” Online payments at www.aod.org/csa allow the CSA Office to save on postage as well as an incredible amount of paper, because they eliminate the need for monthly mailings. With thousands of generous donors contributing to the CSA each year, this is a considerable environmental savings, and is more efficient as well.
You may also pay your pledge electronically without using the online giving portal. Simply indicate on your pledge card that you prefer payments be withdrawn from your bank account or charged to a credit card after the optional initial payment.
For information about the ministries, programs, and services funded by the CSA, please go the Archdiocese of Detroit website, www.aod.org.
