St. Genevieve – St. Maurice Parish
Friends of the Poor Walk
Thank you to the Parish for your generosity!
A single grain of sand can tip the scale. Just one kind soul can indeed make a difference. Thank you for being that grain that tipped the scales toward alleviation of poverty within your parish. Your recent support of our Friend of the Poor Walk will greatly assist your Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Your continued help ensures that we can take the first step to build a better tomorrow.
A special thanks to the parish Youth Group for their support of the cause of the needy, participating in the walk. One of the greatest feelings in the world is knowing that the youth as individuals can make a difference!

SVdP Volunteers Needed!
In last weeks bulletin a general overview of the society of Saint Vincent de Paul and our works was presented. This week, we want to talk more about the need to tap into the most important asset this Parish has: its people.
As with most organizations, our volunteers remain a tremendous resource and our main asset. Without volunteers, we would not be able to conduct programs, raise funds or serve clients. This is where you have the opportunity to serve, restore hope and provide a better future to those in need. While we meet once a month, attendance is not required. What is required is a strong willingness to help your neighbor’s in need.
We are in need of the following:
A bread collection team. Team of two that, on one Friday a month, collects unsold bread items from a local business. The following morning take the food to a local soup kitchen. Estimated time is 1 hour per month.
A scheduler: Would require you to visit the parish office and see if anyone had called seeking assistance. Depending on the type of need, set-up a pantry visit, client interview or referrals to others agencies.
Assistance with Clothing drives, Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Giving Tree.
Board Secretary Duties include attending the monthly meetings, preparing minutes and assisting the president with correspondence. Estimated time is 3 hours per month.
If you are interested or would like to find out more please contact the parish office at 734.427.5520 and leave your name and phone number.
Thank you!
