Fr. Tom has graciously invited me to assist as a deacon here at St. Genevieve – St. Maurice, and Archbishop Vigneron has assigned me to this parish effective July 1, 2021. Allow me to briefly introduce myself. My wife Stephanie and I will celebrate our 46th anniversary in July 2021. We moved to Livonia in January of this year and became parishioners here. We have four children, all of whom are married and live in southeast Michigan. Altogether, we have eight grandchildren. We’re very proud of our family!
After a 30-year career in business, I began working for Catholic parishes in 2002. In my 19 years of ministry at 3 Detroit area parishes, I served in overlapping roles as Parish Business Manager, Pastoral Associate and Deacon. I was ordained in 2008 and am currently a Senior Active deacon. From my ordination until 2020, I served at St. Valentine Parish in Redford Twp. I have taught undergraduate courses in Scripture andLiturgical Prayer as an Adjunct Professor at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, and taught Scripture for the Catholic Biblical School of Michigan. In my business career before entering parish work and ministry, I was in healthcare facilities management, and project development in the natural gas industry.
Stephanie and I are looking forward to getting to know more of you as things return to more nearly normal in the upcoming months. We’d love to talk with you when you see us after Masses and at parish events. And we’re looking forward to working with you and sharing our walk with Jesus here at St. Genevieve – St. Maurice Parish.
Sincerely, Deacon Lawrence Toth
