This week we discussed with our Faith Formation students the scripture background for the 5th Week in Ordinary Time. The Gospel shows how faith comes from listening. Jesus tells the crowds about His Father, then invites Simon Peter to put out his nets. Simon Peter reluctantly does so, pulls in an overwhelming catch, and becomes Jesus’ follower. We are called in Baptism to share in Christ’s mission of spreading the Good News. Jesus calls us to follow Him and share His mission of spreading God’s love. The people of our Church teach us about Jesus and how to follow Him.
As a family, create your own family mission statement. The Catholic Faith Word for this week is “mission”. Write down three things that your family agrees are most important to them. Then compare this list to how you spend your time, energy, and money.
