“This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also He took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
The sacrament of First Holy Communion is the centerpiece of the Roman Catholic faith. The holiest of occasions, it is the first time we receive the body and blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. There is nothing more important than receiving Jesus in the Holy Eucharist which represents Christ’s body, blood, soul, and divinity that are truly pre- sent in the consecrated host and wine at Mass. Along with Baptism and Confirmation, First Holy Communion is the third sacrament for our initiation into the Catholic Church.
This Sunday at 11 am Mass, 8 children from our parish will be united with Jesus in His sacramental presence. Please pray for them that this moment will become another step on a journey with Jesus for them. Journey of faith, journey of love, journey of spiritual intimacy with Jesus. May Jesus be their companion, brother, best friend and most importantly their Lord and Savior forever. Let us pray for their parents that they will be fully responsible for the faith journey of their children. May they all spiritually grow day by day. May Jesus be the center of their lives. Fr. Tom
