Faith Formation News

Hello everyone!
We are preparing for our “Scuba” themed Vacation Bible School the week of June 24th-28th. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact the Faith Formation office at 734-261-5920 or pchudzinski@stgenevieve.org. We will be starting to meet with our volunteers in a couple of weeks.

We look forward to seeing you in September for more opportunities for family catechesis and activities. Faith Formation is not about transmitting information into people’s brains. It happens through relationships. Relationships between parent (or caring adult) and a child, teacher and student, leader and participant, and between friends. Ultimately these relationships are reflections and embodiments of our relationship with God. Nurturing and forming that relationship is the point of faith formation. Our program spirals on the previous year and our sacramental classes require a 2-year preparation commitment. If you will be new to our program next year or attended another program, you will need a letter from your previous Program Director.

Take Time to Chat – How would you describe the three Persons of the Trinity? Draw a picture if it helps. Which person of the Trinity do you pray to the most? Explain your answer. Jesus commands us to make disciples of all nations. What can your family do to respond to this commission?

Liturgy Link – We begin and end Mass with the same action. What is it, and how does it relate to today’s feast day?

Family Prayer – Glory be to the Father – How do I show glory to God? and to the Son – How would I describe Jesus to my friends? and to the Holy Spirit – Where have I seen the Holy Spirit working in my life this past week? as it was in the beginning – What is my earliest memory of God? is now – What is God speaking to my heart right now? and ever shall be world without end. – What do I think Heaven will be like? Amen.

Family Challenge – St. Patrick had a strong devotion to the Trinity. He was known to make the Sign of the Cross many times throughout the day, whether in times of trouble or in thanksgiving. Count how many times you make the sign of the cross this week.
