Faith Formation News

Hello families,
We had a wonderful time at our All-Saint’s Party last Wednesday. We enjoyed a hot dog and chip dinner with the families, and all the classes did a wonderful job! The puppets and presentations were terrific! They put in a lot of work and it showed. Next week we will not have 7th and 8th grade classes because of school conferences. We will be here for K-6. The catechists will send homework home so the classes can keep on schedule.

Today’s Gospel offers us a powerful example of faith and persistence in prayer. Those around him rebuked Bartimaeus for his efforts to attract Jesus’ attention. When silenced by the crowd, however, Bartimaeus called out all the more. He is persistent and bold in his confidence that Jesus will show mercy on him and do what he asks. His persistence and great confidence that Jesus would help him reminds us of the confidence with which our children bring to us their needs. In their faith and trust we can find an example of the attitude with which we might approach God in prayer.

Take Time To Chat – Why is it important to love God above all else? Jesus commands us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. How can I be better at that? Share some examples of what it means to love your neighbor as yourself.

Liturgy Link – What colors and/or designs do you see in the stained-glass windows at your parish? Do they look different outside than they do inside?

Family Challenge – Think about something for which you need more courage. Write (or draw) it on a piece of paper. Ask one family member to pray for this intention for a whole week.

Fun Facts – The first full week of November is National Vocation Awareness Week. Take time this week to ask God how he is calling you to serve his Church. Also, pray for those discerning the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life.
