Notes from Pat

Dear Parishioners and Friends,
After much prayerful thought and discussion with God and those closest to me, I have made the difficult decision to finally do the thing which I have been putting off for some time…. RETIRE. This has been a difficult decision because I love what I have been given to do for over 60 years. Yes, God has truly blessed me. Ever since my high school days back in the ’60’s, when I played for daily Masses at 6:30 & 8:00 a.m. before school at St. Michael’s in Pontiac, I have been serving God in this wonderful way. Yes, I have been blessed to play literally thousands of masses and share in the happiest times in people’s lives at weddings, first communions, confirmations, and anniversaries and I have been privileged to take part in some of their saddest, most touching times… at the funeral of a loved one.

Over the course of my career in music ministry, I have met many wonderful people, many of whom have become like family. Some have even traveled with me from one parish choir to another. I have cherished these friendships, and I will always be grateful for their kind support over the years, and I know we will be staying in touch in my retirement. I hope to find some new ways to serve God and spread His message to others. Praising God in music will always continue to be a big part of my life.

My final mass here at St. Genevieve-St. Maurice will be on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27th at the 11:00am. May God bless all of you parishioners for your kind words and support over the last 5 years.
Sincerely and gratefully,
Pat
