“The harvest is great, but the workers are few”
Last Sunday, October 5th, the Knights of Columbus from Daniel A. Lord Livonia Council organized the “Breaking Bread with Our Seminarians” Dinner. More than 200 people were invited to support the formation process of two seminarians: Brendan Tabone from St. Genevieve – St. Maurice parish and Kellan Winslow from St. Michael the Archangel parish.
It was a beautiful event. The food was delicious. To hear the testimonies of these young men was really uplifting and inspiring. Their love for the Lord and enthusiasm to follow Him is really contagious. To get to know their parents and other family members was a blessing.
I would like to thank Rick Fanco for taking lead on preparing, organizing and running the dinner, with fellow Knights; Ray DePerro, Kevin Comben, Stephen Gelhaus, Rick DelaGarza, Dave Nowlin and Brendan Tabone and also our own Men’s Club members; Doug Williams, Mark Mazur and Bob Carzon.
I would like to thank all the Knights who were present and serving at the dinner, as well as for their constant support for the Catholic Priests. That celebration showed me that we as a community of faith are truly responsible for the vocations. Not only praying and encouraging the young people to follow the Lord as diocesan or religious priests or brothers, but we should support prayerfully and also financially those who are already in the process.
I ask you all, please pray regularly for new vocations from our parish community, from our families. May these young people who are discerning vocation, through your faith and example be assured that it’s worth it to follow the Lord serving Him in the Holy Catholic Church. We need more priests; the world today needs more holy priests!
