Mary, the Mother of Jesus
God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus on earth. Because Jesus is God’s Son, we call her the Mother of God.
Mary said a brave and loving “Yes!” to God’s plan, which made the first Christmas possible. God kept her heart perfectly pure from the start, which is why she is so special.
Mary is now in heaven, close to Jesus, and she is our spiritual mother too. We honor her and ask her to pray for us, knowing she always brings our prayers straight to her Son, Jesus. She is a wonderful example of trusting God completely.
Reflection: What’s Your “Yes”?
- Being Brave: The angel asked Mary to do something really big. When is it hard for you to say “yes” to doing the right thing (like sharing a toy, listening to a grown‑up, or helping with a chore)?
- Saying “Yes” to God: When we are kind, helpful, and loving, that is our way of saying “Yes” to God. What is one way you can say “Yes” to God today? (Examples: Being nice to your sister or brother, cleaning your room, praying for a friend.)
- Mary Can Help: We can ask God for help to say “Yes” to him. When you need help being good, you can ask Mary to pray to Jesus for you. What is something you could ask Mary to pray for?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
